The provisions of Sections 18-120, 18-125, and 18-130 of the Property Tax Code shall not apply to Section 12 of this Act unless within 30 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1957 a petition is filed with the clerk of the board of trustees signed by not less than 5% of the registered voters of the district requesting the submission to a referendum of the following proposition: "Shall the provisions of Sections 18-120, 18-125, and 18-130 of the Property Tax Code continue in effect in ....(name of sanitary district)?" The Board of trustees shall certify the proposition to the proper election officials, who shall submit the proposition at an election in accordance with the general election law.
