§ 2913.021.
(A) As used in this section, “ mail ” means any letter, card, parcel, or other material, along with its contents, that
is received, accepted for delivery, delivered, or left for collection by a postal
service, including the United States postal service, a common carrier, or a private
delivery service. (B) No person, with purpose to deprive the owner of mail, shall knowingly obtain or exert
control over mail in any of the following ways: (1) Without the consent of the owner or person authorized to give consent; (2) Beyond the scope of the express or implied consent of the owner or person authorized
to give consent; (3) By deception; (4) By threat; (5) By intimidation. (C) Whoever violates this section is guilty of theft of mail, a felony of the fifth degree
except as provided in division (B)(2) of section 2913.02 of the Revised Code with respect to property with a value of seven thousand five hundred dollars or more
and division (B)(3) of section 2913.02 of the Revised Code with respect to property with a value of one thousand dollars or more. (D) A prosecution for a violation of this section does not preclude a prosecution of
a violation of any other section of the Revised Code. One or more acts, a series of acts, or a course of behavior that can be prosecuted
under this section or any other section of the Revised Code may be prosecuted under
this section, the other section of the Revised Code, or both sections. However, if an offender is convicted of or pleads guilty to a violation of this
section and also is convicted of or pleads guilty to a violation of section 2913.02 of the Revised Code based on the same conduct involving the same victim that was the basis of the violation
of this section, the two offenses are allied offenses of similar import under section 2941.25 of the Revised Code .
